Last updated: July 15, 2026
This policy explains exactly what is stored in your browser when you visit soloratecalc.com, what is planned but not yet active, and how you can manage every preference. It is meant to be read together with our Privacy Policy.
What are cookies and browser storage?
A cookie is a small text file placed on your device by a website and sent back to the server on every request to that domain. localStorage is a browser API that stores data on your device only — it is never sent to any server unless JavaScript explicitly reads it and sends it. This site uses localStorage, not cookies, for its own storage.
Storage we use right now
At the time this policy was last updated, the only storage this site writes to your browser is a single localStorage entry that records your consent preference. No cookies are set by this site's own code.
Strictly Necessary — Active
This category cannot be disabled. It contains only one entry and is required to remember the choice you make in the consent banner.
| Name | Type | Provider | Purpose | Retention |
|---|---|---|---|---|
src-consent-v2 | localStorage | soloratecalc.com |
Stores your cookie consent choice (full or
necessary). Never transmitted to any server.
| Until you clear browser storage or click "Cookie settings" in the footer |
Services planned but not yet active
The following cookie categories are disclosed here in advance for full transparency. They are not currently loaded or active. When any of these services is activated, the stored consent preference will be reset and the banner will appear again so you can make an informed choice at that time.
Analytics — Not yet active
We plan to add Google Analytics (provided by Google LLC / Alphabet Inc., 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA). When activated, Google Analytics will count visits and measure aggregate, anonymised usage to help us understand which calculators are most used. No personally identifying data is required to compute these statistics.
| Cookie name | Provider | Purpose | Retention |
|---|---|---|---|
_ga | Google Analytics | Distinguishes unique users by assigning a randomly generated number as a client identifier. | 2 years |
_gid | Google Analytics | Distinguishes users; used to throttle request rate. | 24 hours |
_ga_XXXXXXXX | Google Analytics | Persists session state for a specific GA4 measurement ID. | 2 years |
When Google Analytics is activated, Google Consent Mode v2 will be
implemented. The Analytics script will only be injected after a
visitor explicitly accepts optional cookies. All signals
(analytics_storage, ad_storage,
ad_user_data, ad_personalization) will
default to denied until consent is given.
Google's privacy policy: policies.google.com/privacy. Google Analytics opt-out add-on: tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
Advertising — Not yet active
We plan to add Google AdSense (provided by Google LLC / Alphabet Inc.) to display contextual advertisements. When activated, AdSense may set cookies to serve ads and measure their performance.
| Cookie name | Provider | Purpose | Retention |
|---|---|---|---|
_gcl_au | Google AdSense | Used by Google AdSense to experiment with advertisement efficiency across websites using their services. | 90 days |
IDE | Google DoubleClick | Used by Google DoubleClick to register and report actions after seeing or clicking one of the advertiser's ads. | 13 months |
NID | Stores user preferences and information for Google services. | 6 months |
When AdSense is activated, Google Consent Mode v2 will be
implemented with all signals defaulting to denied until
consent is given. AdSense will only be loaded after explicit
acceptance of advertising cookies.
Global Privacy Control (GPC)
GPC is a browser-level privacy signal defined at
globalprivacycontrol.org.
When your browser sends navigator.globalPrivacyControl === true,
this site honors it as a valid opt-out from optional cookies under
the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA), Colorado Privacy
Act (CPA), Connecticut Data Privacy Act (CTDPA), Texas Data Privacy
and Security Act (TDPSA), and similar state laws.
If GPC is active when you first visit the site and you have not previously made a choice here, the site will automatically record a "necessary only" preference and will not show the consent banner. You can override this at any time via the "Cookie settings" link in the footer.
To enable GPC, use a compatible browser extension (e.g. the EFF's Privacy Badger, or browsers such as Firefox with the right setting enabled). A list of compatible tools is available at globalprivacycontrol.org/#download-section.
Do Not Track (DNT)
This site currently loads no third-party tracking scripts, so there is nothing to suppress in response to the DNT header. When third-party services are activated, they will be controlled exclusively through the consent banner and GPC signal described above, which provide a legally stronger opt-out mechanism than DNT alone.
Managing your preferences
You can review and change your cookie preference at any time using the "Cookie settings" button in the footer. Clicking it clears your stored choice and reopens the consent banner.
You can also manage cookies at the browser level:
- Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies and other site data
- Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data
- Safari: Preferences → Privacy → Manage Website Data
- Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions
Clearing all browser storage will remove your consent preference, and the banner will appear again on your next visit.
Changes to this policy
When any new cookie or storage entry is added — including when Analytics or Advertising services go live — this policy will be updated and the stored consent preference will be reset so that you are asked again. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will reflect any change.
