This Privacy Policy explains how SoloRateCalc ("we", "us", "our") processes information when you visit soloratecalc.com. It is written to describe what the site actually does today, not what a template assumes. Where services are planned but not yet active, they are listed under "Future services" with that status stated explicitly.
Who we are
SoloRateCalc is a free-to-use website providing arithmetic calculators for freelancers and one-person businesses. Contact: contact@soloratecalc.com.
What data we collect — current state
Calculator inputs
All calculators run entirely in your browser. The numbers you enter are processed locally by JavaScript and are never transmitted to or stored by us. We have no server-side access to anything you type into a calculator.
Consent preference
When you interact with the consent banner, your choice ("Accept all"
or "Decline optional") is saved to your browser's localStorage
under the key src-consent-v2. This value never leaves
your device — it is read only by JavaScript running on the page to
decide whether to load optional services (none of which are currently
active). There is no server-side record of your consent preference.
Fonts and assets
All fonts used on this site (Bricolage Grotesque and Hanken Grotesk) are self-hosted — served from our own domain. No request is made to Google Fonts, Adobe Fonts or any other external font service. No IP address is transmitted to a third party as a result of loading a font.
Server access logs
When you request any page, the web server (operated by our hosting provider, Hostinger) records your IP address, browser user-agent, the page requested, and the timestamp in a standard access log. These logs are used solely for server security and uptime monitoring. We do not process them to identify individual visitors or track behaviour across sessions.
Future services — not yet active
The following services are planned but have not been integrated into the site at the time this policy was last updated. They are disclosed here in advance. When any of them goes live, this policy will be updated and the consent preference will be reset.
Google Analytics (planned — not active)
We plan to add Google Analytics (Google LLC, USA) to measure aggregate, anonymised usage — for example, which calculators are most used. When activated:
- The GA script will be injected only after a visitor explicitly accepts analytics cookies.
- Google Consent Mode v2 will be implemented with all signals defaulting to
denied. - Data will be processed by Google under their Privacy Policy (policies.google.com/privacy).
- IP addresses may be processed on Google servers in the United States.
Google AdSense (planned — not active)
We plan to add Google AdSense (Google LLC, USA) to display contextual advertisements. When activated:
- The AdSense script will be injected only after a visitor explicitly accepts advertising cookies.
- Google Consent Mode v2 will be implemented with all signals defaulting to
denied. - Data will be processed by Google under their Privacy Policy.

Legal basis for processing (GDPR — EEA and UK)
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, the following table sets out the legal basis under Article 6 of the UK/EU GDPR for each type of processing.

Your rights under GDPR (EEA / UK GDPR)
Under the GDPR you have the right to:
- Access — obtain a copy of personal data we hold about you.
- Rectification — have inaccurate data corrected.
- Erasure — have personal data deleted where there is no lawful basis to retain it.
- Restriction — restrict processing of your data in certain circumstances.
- Data portability — receive your data in a machine-readable format.
- Object — object to processing based on legitimate interests.
- Withdraw consent — where processing is based on consent, withdraw it at any time without affecting prior processing.
- Lodge a complaint — with your national data protection authority (e.g. ICO in the UK, your EEA Member State's authority).
To exercise any right, contact us at contact@soloratecalc.com. Because we hold no personal data beyond server access logs (held by the hosting provider under its own terms), most GDPR requests can be answered promptly. For server log data, requests will be forwarded to Hostinger.
You can update your consent choice at any time via the "Cookie settings" link in the footer.
California residents — CCPA / CPRA
If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA) gives you the following rights:
- Right to know — what personal information is collected, used, disclosed or sold.
- Right to delete — request deletion of personal information we hold.
- Right to correct — request correction of inaccurate personal information.
- Right to opt out — opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information.
- Right to non-discrimination — you will not receive worse service for exercising these rights.
We do not sell personal information. We do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. The "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information" link in the footer records a "necessary only" preference in your browser.
Global Privacy Control (GPC): This site honors the
GPC browser signal (navigator.globalPrivacyControl === true)
as a valid opt-out under CCPA/CPRA. If GPC is enabled in your browser
and you have not previously made a choice on this site, the "necessary
only" preference is automatically applied without displaying the
consent banner.

Other US state privacy laws
Residents of Colorado (CPA), Connecticut (CTDPA), Texas (TDPSA), Virginia (VCDPA) and other states with privacy legislation have similar rights regarding access, deletion, correction and opt-out from targeted advertising. All of those rights are honored through the same mechanisms described above. The GPC signal is honored as a valid opt-out under each of these laws.

Children's privacy — COPPA
SoloRateCalc is not directed at children under 13 (or the applicable age of digital consent in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, contact contact@soloratecalc.com and we will take steps to remove it.
Data retention
The consent preference stored in your browser's localStorage persists until you clear it yourself or click "Cookie settings" in the footer. No personal data is held on our servers beyond standard server access logs, which are retained by our hosting provider per their own retention policy.
International data transfers
No personal data is currently transferred by us to any third party. When Google Analytics and Google AdSense are activated (future services described above), data may be transferred to and processed on Google servers in the United States. At that time, such transfers will rely on Google's Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent safeguards as described in Google's Privacy Policy.
Security
The site is served over HTTPS. Security headers (Content Security Policy, HSTS, X-Content-Type-Options, X-Frame-Options, Referrer-Policy, Permissions-Policy) are set on every response. Because the site is static and holds no user data on its servers, the risk of a data breach affecting personal information is minimal.
Changes to this policy
This policy will be updated when any new data processing activity starts or changes. When a planned service (such as Analytics or AdSense) goes live, the policy will be updated and the consent banner will reappear. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent change. Continued use of the site after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
